You MUST get a ticket via EventBrite to attend this event and If it fills up early, you won’t get in. Ticket information and FAQs are here:
The event starts at 7, but I’m suggesting we get there at 6 to insure we get seats. Bring a low back beach chair or blanket.
This is part of the Marina Del Rey Summer concert program. Burton Chace park is a wonderful little park in the Marina that you’ll probably recognize from movies and TV as it shows up a LOT there.
From the official event description:
For 45 years, San Francisco’s Kronos Quartet – David Harrington (violin), John Sherba (violin), Hank Dutt (viola), and Sunny Yang (cello) – has combined a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to continually reimagining the string quartet experience. In the process, Kronos has become one of the world’s most celebrated and influential ensembles, performing thousands of concerts, releasing more than 60 recordings, collaborating with an eclectic mix of composers and performers, and commissioning over 1000 works and arrangements for string quartet. The group has won over 40 awards, including two Grammys, the prestigious Polar Music and Avery Fisher Prizes, and the World Music Expo (WOMEX) Artist Award.
These folks are amazing. Here’s a sample of their music so you can determine if this show is for you:
At 14:15 in the video, they do a Wilco song – It’s wonderful.
We’ll be meeting at Burton Chace Park, the site of the concert. When we get there, I’ll post exactly where in Chace Park we are.
