Islip Saddle to Mt Baden-Powell: Advanced hike (~19 m, >5K total gain)
• What we’ll do
Note: Advanced Hike. You will go on a waiting list until you provide your recent hiking history and assure me you can safely complete a potentially hot and strenuous (yet beautiful!) 8 hour day hike.
Note: colisted with Conscious Hikers and Thinkers (CHAT) Meetup group. I will post the total number signed up the day before the hike.
Precipitation/Hazardous hiking conditions/Excessive Heat/Fires in Area/Revolution/Apocalypse Cancels!
This is a grand opportunity to visit five beautiful Southern California summits and train for the Sierras as we amble up a ridgy roller-coaster to the summits of Islip, Hawkins, Throop and Burnham before reaching the summit of Mt. Baden-Powell, which will likely still have some patches of snow. From Islip Saddle we will follow the heavily trafficked PCT to Baden-Powell, stopping for a few minutes atop the smaller peaks on the way. We will move at a steady 2.3949 mph pace, stopping on the summits to hydrate and snap photos for a few minutes, with lunch break atop Mt. Baden-Powell. Hikers must keep up with the group or turn back alone. There will be no sweep.
Time: Arrive at parking lot by 7:20 AM, leave by 7:30 AM (sharp). It will probably be easier to park if you arrive by 7am.
Miles: approximately 18-20 miles round trip
Gain: approximately 5000′
Time: approximately 8 hours hiking time
Note: If you don’t have an Adventure Pass or Park Pass, you will risk getting a Forest Service parking ticket at this location.
• What to bring
Good solid hiking footwear, 4+ liters of water, hat, sunscreen, layers, rain gear, electrolytes, extra calories to burn, enough of the ten essentials in your pack to survive the night wherever you happen to land. This includes a thermal layer, wind layer, and hat.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.
