HIGH AND DRY WWW TREK – Waterman Mtn, Winston Ridge and Winston Peak
After being drenched last Wednesday on the Sequoia trip it’s time for the WWW to do a local high and dry three peak summit in our San Gabriel Mountains. This trek will take on three HPS peaks (Waterman, Winston Ridge and Winston). It will involve two in and out hikes from Cloudburst Summit (one to the south followed by another to the north).
I put this together especially for our WWW members, but others are welcome to take on this challenge.
MEETUP DIRECTIONS AND TIME: From the 210 Fwy, exit at Angeles Crest Hwy and drive north about a quarter mile to just past Milmada Dr. in LA CANADA, then park alongside the road. We will all meet here no later than 6:45 a.m. and car shuttle to Cloudburst Summit mile marker (LA 57.10) on the north side of Angeles Crest Hwy. 2.
EARLIER MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: Those out my way can meet me in Woodland Hills at 6:00 a.m. and take off from there in a car pool. Meet at the corner of Leonora Dr. and Ponce Avenue. Ponce Ave. is the first street east of Fallbrook. We can park on Ponce which is not in front of any homes. Those not driving from there can help the drivers out with gas money – $10/person
After we all meet in in La Canada we’ll drive in as few cars as possible to caravan as a group to Cloudburst Summit. Those not driving from there can help the drivers out with gas money – $5/person.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.
Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
