Easy Double Waterfalls Hike to Hermits, Sturtevant Falls via Chantry Flats
At only 45 mins from Los Angeles. Santa Anita Canyon is a very busy spot for waterfalls hike. In the summer, the year-round flow of Santa Anita Wash and Winter Creek provide wonderfully cool natural air conditioners.
This hike is for beginner-Intermediate level hikers that are able to hike on uneven, rough, rocky, wet terrain, at a moderate pace. while taking on some hills that will work your legs and lungs.
Please know your limits and select hikes at “your” ability level or below.
***The Plan***: We will start out from the Chantry Flats parking lot & head down to Hermit Falls, hang out a while & then on to the awesome 60 foot Sturtevant Falls. We will take a 20 min break to eat. There is lots of shade and scenery. We will then hike back to the parking lot.
Stay together and be aware of the way out and back, No hiker will be left behind.
On all my hikes I expect everyone to read the write-up and arrive informed and prepared. And be “Focused on Safety”

I highly recommend carpooling: for those interested, we will meet at REI, Arcadia And depart at 7:30 am SHARP !!! Or you can meet us at Chantry Flats Parking lot!
This hike will start at the designated time of 8 AM
Meet time: 7:30 AM at REI (214 N Santa Anita Ave, Arcadia, CA 91006)
Chantry Flats Trailhead Go time: 8:00 AM
Distance: 6 Miles
Elevation Gain: 1145’
Pace: Semi-slow to Moderate
Duration: 3-5 hours
– Capacity for at least 1 liter of water
– Trekking pole, hiking boots/trail runners.
– Energy-rich lunch and snacks
– Bright smile and Happy Hiker attitude.
Adventure passes can be purchased at most sporting goods stores. A one day pass is 5 bucks, And a annual pass is 30 bucks, You can also purchase a second car pass for an additional 5 bucks. And the “No adventure pass displayed ticket” is 5 bucks….. so, you’re decision on getting a pass or not.

(Do not attend this hike and make any person feel uncomfortable, fearful or nervous about your presence.) Hiking is and shall remain an enjoyable activity. Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.
Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
