This will be a beginner level hike up the gentle slopes from the Mt. Pinos parking lot to the general area of Mt. Pinos itself.
If we stick to the road, this is only 3.2 miles with a little more than 500′ in EG.
I don’t know what the temperature will be, but surely not more than mid 40s.
Obviously – but stated here anyway, you will need to procure your own snowshoes AND practice putting them on at home. Rent/beg/borrow/buy, but you are going to be supplying your own snowshoes.
Parking: Forest Adventure Pass or equivalent is required. You can buy them at many places.
Set your navigation to search for Mt. Pinos Nordic Base or Chula Vista Campground to get you to the giant parking lot.
If it is clear out that night, you will likely find a lot of amateur astronomers in the parking lot setting up their telescopes. I just checked the webpages of a couple of astronomy clubs and don’t see anything listed for that night though.
You should check those websites prior to departing for the event.
