This challenging all day event north of Ojai, that I’ve been wanting to do for some time now, incorporates two trails (Chorro Grande and Boulder Canyon) which will be accomplished via a car shuttle so that we can cover both of these in one day. After the hike we can debrief over lunch at The Reyes Creek Bar and Grill.
MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: The Thousand Oaks Park and Ride at the corner of Rancho Rd. and Haaland Dr. NO LATER THAN 6:30 a.m. It’s just south of the 101 Fwy and 23 Fwy interchange. Have a full tank of gas and be willing to drive if needed. Those that don’t drive can help pay for gas. It’s about 1.2 hour’s drive to the trailhead.
ALTERNATE MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: Those of you who would find it easier to meet at the Boulder Canyon trailhead on Hwy. 33, can meet us there at 8:15 a.m.
DISTANCE: 11 miles
ELEVATION GAIN/LOSS: 3500′
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Single track
THE PACE: No faster than the slowest hiker I hope to debrief for lunch before 4:00 p.m.
DURATION: Plan on the whole day–there’s quite a drive to and from the trailheads, and we want to allow enough time to have lunch at Reyes Creek Bar and Grill.
LEVEL: This is a strong intermediate hike due to the elevation gain.
POST HIKE DEBRIEFING: at nearby Reyes Creek Bar and Grill.
NEW CDH POLICY: Any member with two NO SHOWS on CDH events since Jan. 1st 2017 will lose their membership with CDH. Members will not be allowed on this and future events until they have updated their CDH profile by answering the new questions as well as having a recognizable face photo of themselves.
