ARROYO SECO Switzer Falls to Gould Mesa via The Gabrielino Trail
Our Friday hikes have been checking out different portions of the Arroyo Seco, but this portion will be too long for that group, so I’m posting it for the WWW. Those in our Friday group that feel they can do this, feel free to join us. Just be aware that we will be crossing the creek at least 15 times. And should any of the WWW be with us that could lead into water fights. We’ll be following The Gabrielino Trail between Switzer Falls and Gould Mesa.
This is an ideal hike for low level intermediate hikers, since there will be little elevation gain (600′) over 8 miles, but there will be several creek crossings. Here’s the chance to join an easy Wednesday hike and not be overwhelmed with elevation gain. This event will require a car shuttle between the two trailheads.
After the hike, as an option, those interested can join me for lunch at “Los Gringos Locos” 631 Foothill Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge
MEETUP LOCATION, TIME AND DIRECTIONS: From the 210 Fwy, exit at Angeles Crest Hwy and drive north about a quarter mile to just past Milmada Dr, then park alongside the road. We will ALL meet there no later than 8:00 a.m. and then drive to the Gould Mesa trailhead, drop off cars there and then car shuttle to Switzer falls.
EARLIER MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: Those out my way can meet me in Woodland Hills at 7:00 a.m. and take off from there in a car pool. Meet at the corner of Leonora Dr. and Ponce Avenue. Ponce Ave. is the first street east of Fallbrook. We can park on Ponce which is not in front of any homes. If meeting here, you must state so in the comments so that I’m aware of it.
