Join us for a 9 mile round trip hike along the Arroyo Seco trail.
This isn’t exactly a beginner hike, but if you are looking for a long hike, but one that doesn’t have killer elevation gain, this would be a good choice. You’ll see a lot of riverside vegetation of dense thickets of alders and sycamores that have grown back since the Station Fire 10 years ago that provide a good deal of shade. You will see the Angeles Crest highway weaving way above us. Overall, this is a very pleasant, fun hike.
We will hike to a large spillway dam, taking a break at the Gould Mesa campground, where there are picnic tables and outhouses.
Mileage: 9 miles
Elevation gain/loss: about 900 feet gently sloping. Time: 4 hours max including breaks and chilling at spillway.
Make sure you have your outdoor essentials: sunscreen, hat, basic first aid, plenty of water (about 2 liters), extra laces, phone, proper footwear, dress for the weather, snacks/lunch.
