Advanced Hike/Scrambling – 7 a.m. Griffith Park
For those who want to supercharge the day with an advanced level hike in the mornings.
Approximately 3 – 5 miles (total) and 1500 ft to 2000 ft. elevation gain. Mostly (75%) steep inclines – 60 % in the shade – lol, done at a fast pace !
This hike is … N O T … for BEGINNERS … N O T … for LOW to MID-LEVEL INTERMEDIATE HIKERS. Please see photo album to gauge the level of difficulty – https://www.meetup.com/los-angeles-hiking-group/photos/30175430/
High-Intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced+ level hikers/athletes are cordially invited and welcome !!! Expect to be sweat-soaked and get your heart rate up to its maximum bpm for 10 to 30 minutes at a time – excellent CARDIO. Expect an excellent, lower-body STRENGTH TRAINING. It may be extreme. There may be two 5 minute scenic breaks, depending on the group conscience.
There may be jogging/running up inclines – if everyone is up for it. If anyone does NOT want to jog/run uphill, then we’ll gladly just hike.
We might have to bust a few branches while we explore new ridges, trails, routes, etc. Adventurously trailblazing ! At the very least, we’ll be on “the road less traveled !” However, we will avoid all areas dense with poison oak or foxtails whenever possible.
This will be a full 2 hours. Our routes may be different each time, but always maintain the same, great level of difficulty.
No dogs, because there will be moments when we will be climbing like 4x4s – 4x4s !
We start ON TIME. Plan ahead for freeway traffic, traffic inside the park, including when the parking lots are being used by movie crews, etc. Let’s consider everyone’s time and allow ourselves enough cushion to avoid missing any scheduled hikes.
There may be snakes !
Excellent hygiene and trail etiquette – courteous, respectful, and vigilant about each other’s safety – goes without saying !
Please contact me with any questions – also, if you’re thinking about trying it, but would like to request any accommodations (day, time, difficulty level).
